The story of the Mavrommatis brothers is linked to the first Greek restaurant with a Michelin star beyond Greece’s own borders.

Over the past 40 years the Mavrommatis brothers have created a chain of restaurants and delicatessen branches based in France and have been expanding their range of operation to Marseille, Strasbourg and St Laurent du Var.

Andreas Mavrommatis, originating from Cyprus, arrived in Paris to study psychology and sociology but his plans changed when he chose the path of gastronomy.

Well versed in high-quality products, he realized the importance of going out to enjoy a good meal and leaving satisfied.

During his years of work and studies, his brothers, Evagoras and Dionysis, followed him to France.

In 1981, they launched a small grocery store in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, bringing in products from Cyprus and Greece, while a short time afterwards they moved into catering.

Le Bistrot Mavrommatis becomes the first Greek restaurant in Paris to stand out for its authentic and creative cuisine.

Three brothers from Cyprus have managed to become the best ambassadors of Greek cuisine in Paris.

In 2018, Andreas Mavrommatis won the first Michelin star for his highly innovative Cypriot and Greek cuisine!

Those who know me and Kostas on a personal level know that whatever we do, will be filled with a great deal of passion and madness!

The question we asked each other was fairly simple; ‘Shall we go to Paris to meet Mavrommatis?’

So we found the cheapest flight, made a call to arrange the appointment and we took off.

Definitely couldn’t deny the slight anxiety or the little knot in my stomach.

Our meeting was like dining with our best friends. It was like being at home with our own people. Where we can be ourselves, speak freely and trust each other.

The atmosphere was delightful; all the staff making a great team, the respect for the customers, for the store and all the products made you feel wonderful.

So was Mr. Andreas Mavrommatis. Genuine, smiling and willing. Like family.

That is why he and his brothers had no choice but to succeed in everything they do. Because they are genuine and respectful above all.

And we are all the more proud being close to them as they chose Mama Irene Pasta to be featured in their stores.
